Our Place Christian Communities desires to see the establishment of many mixed-ability, neurodiverse residential Christian communities in relationship with local churches. We support these communities in the following ways:
Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy
Our Place employees disability chaplains for residential communities. Our disability chaplains assist in the establishment of relationships with the resident’s local Christian church of choice, coordinate pastoral spiritual care and ensure each home is a place where residents are safe and known, connected and growing, celebrated and loved. Church Connection
The Our Place model helps to build relationships with local churches to ensure residents experience belonging as well as enable opportunities to bless others and be blessed through discipleship and friendships freely given. Our Place can work with residential communities and local churches to assist in the establishment of inclusive practices and foster connections through our chaplaincy program as well as training workshops.
Advice and Consultancy
Assists families in setting up supported independent living (SIL) housing by providing guidance and support. These homes are family governed cooperatives supported by an NDIS service provider. Our Place seeks to share the experiences of those who have established existing residential communities to support those who are still on the journey. Visit our consultancy page for more details.
Our Pilot Program
Welcome Home Springwood (WHS) is the first of our partnering communities. It is a SIL home owned by our partnering organisation Hope Christian Homes and governed by a family cooperative. In 2025, we are providing chaplaincy services for this community one day per week. In practice this looks like weekly dinners together with bible time, monthly supported church visits for each resident and supporting other hospitality events at the house for the residents’ local church communities.
